Website Updates
- January 8, 2010
- Added the option to view an outline of the radar no-coverage areas while Satellite is on. This option can be found by right click on the Satellite button.
- Added warning when website is simultaneously open in multiple browser windows or tabs (see Known Issues).
Known Issues:
- Opening the site in multiple browser windows can cause changes to settings in one window to be applied to other windows in unexpected ways.
- Using the browser's "Back" button while interacting with the site may put the site in an inconsistent state.
- August 24, 2009
- Added server-side configs, allowing users to save their settings on the server, and then access them across different computers and browsers.
- Improved login session handling. Added "Log Out" link.
- April 24, 2009
- Added "My Overlays" tab under Overlay settings, allowing arbitrary point overlays to be added to the map.
Fixed:
- When many overlays were added (over 100 or 200), all overlays would disappear. Now, a message is displayed when a user tries to go over the overlay limit. The limit depends on which overlays are added, and will exceed 150 overlays in most cases.
- November 13, 2008
- Precip phase information added to both real-time and forecast images. It is automatically displayed as part of the Winter Precip product.
- Archives now available for over 5 months of past weather. Archive page background changed to make it noticeably different from the Live page.
- Major Roads overlays added for the 50 US States. (See "Roads" category under Overlays -> Browse..)
Fixed:
- Beginning 11/3/2008, archive times from 11/2/2008 and older were wrong by one hour due to a bug involving daylight-savings-time.
- The site loads without any overlays appearing either on the map or in the Overlays dialog.
- August 18, 2008
- Radar data loss layer added to show which radars are currently unavailable. It can be disabled by going to 'View' in the top menu.
- Storm Motion product now only shows storm extrapolated positions (cyan lines) when map is zoomed in so that map is less cluttered when zoomed out.
- Available overlays updated (56-day update).
- Safari browser now supported.
- July 31, 2008
- Lakes, rivers, and Canadian boundaries have been added to the default "Boundaries" overlay.
- The currently-selected home can now be seen in the top menu and in the Accuracy settings dialog.
- Archive storage has been increased to 3 weeks (was previously 2 weeks).
- June Release, 2008
- Expanded coverage to include the CONUS (Continental United States)
- Increased product resolution (.5 nmi)
- Archive playback capability with the same interface and products as the live version of the site
- Ability to view all products from the same window
- Ability to pause, step through, and animate the images at different speeds
- An improved Overlay interface
- Ability to add overlays to the forecast
- Expanded past weather loop to 2 hours
